Welcome to the new look Mama Bear’s Kitchen. I am bursting with excitement to show you around my amazingly gorgeous, dear little blog. I made the big leap from Blogger to WordPress and while I am still finding my way around it all, I am jumping up and down with pure joy!!! I feel like I have been let loose in a cupcake shop!

Easy Peasy Monster Cupcakes
What a fun way to start the new year baking agenda. These monster cupcakes brought delight to a little boy turning 6. I really need to shout from the roof tops that these cupcakes are just sooooo easy!! I found these amazing Wilton edible eyes in BIG W (no less), and stuck them onto smarties with a dab of icing. The tips you need are fairly standard and also come from BIG W. I chose to use Americolor gel pastes as they give vibrant colours and you only need a small amount.
Shabby Chic high tea party
Last year I had the honour of creating a high tea party for a group of sweet young ladies who wanted a fanciful afternoon tea together. A shabby theme was chosen, with soft pink and green being the main colour scheme, with an added hint of lilac.
How to make your own vintage party invitations
Whenever I host a party, I always give a lot of thought to the invitations. This is the first contact your guests will have with your event and you want to lure them in with a dose of handmade gorgeousness. I know custom made printable invitations are all the go at the moment, and yes, they are lovely. Call me old fashioned, but I prefer the feel of ribbon, lace, pretty paper, string and buttons. By taking the time to create your own invitations, you are building a sense of anticipation in your guests and heightening their expectation that your event will be one to remember!

Cleaning
I don’t know what has come over me, but I am on a roll and have no intention of stopping until our house is under control! One would suspect I have taken on a New Year’s resolution but no, I am just uncharacteristically motivated to do a very late spring clean. I am quite impressed that it is the second day of January and I have just finished cleaning out my baking cupboard!! This is no small achievement friends. I humbly confess that yes, I have a cupboard all to myself for all of my baking and cake decorating goodies. I know I am spoilt. I also have pink muffin trays. And pink walls. It is a bit of a girly lolly land cupboard. I know I am blessed. Anyway, rejoice with me….for today it is clean and very organised! All set for my 2015 baking agenda.
2015…Bring it on!
Well…here it is. 2015 is bursting through the door and waits for no man. All we can do now is hold the door open wide and welcome it in. Ready or not, a year of new beginnings, new adventures, new opportunities awaits. As we take stock of the past year and reflect on it before barging into the next one, some of us will look with satisfaction over all that was accomplished or experienced. Others will breathe a sigh of relief that it’s finally over and can only hope that 2015 brings better fortune and easier times.
Vintage woodland Christmas
I am very excited about sharing my Woodland Christmas table with you. Our family celebrated together in late November before our oldest three left for missions. Months ago I decided on this whimsical theme and began searching for moss table runners, tree slices, berries and gold deer topped mason jars..(which I could NOT find anywhere on the web or in the shops until last week!!) Not to worry, I found some christmas decorations and spray painted them gold before gluing them onto mason jars.
A Christmas snap.
Merry Christmas folks.
The big day is over for another year and what a special time it was for our family. The major highlight of course was catching up with our big people for their commissioning service held before they all fly out to their various mission fields after ten days of gruelling boot camp where they have run a daily obstacle course, learnt brick laying and carpentry skills, puppetry and all sorts of marvellous things. For a sneak peak into life at Teen Missions Boot camp, check out this video. You’ve gotta admit, it does look kinda fun!!
