Rustic lace baby shower

As most of you are aware, designing and styling baby showers is one of my all time favourite creative pursuits. New life just grabs me every time. There is such diverse styling potential for each shower, and opportunity to reflect the personality of each precious mama to be.

This rustic lace shower was designed to be gender neutral with a focus on texture rather than colour. Lots of wood, hessian, sticks,  timber crates and vintage glassware and china contrasted with the generous amount of lace curtains and doily embroidery hoops which softened this rugged display.

One of my favourite elements of the dessert table were the Peanut Butter Tim Tam pops. I had fiddled with my own recipe until I was happy with the consistency. They looked and tasted delicious. The clean twigs added to their rustic charm.

I had been collecting vintage glass salt and pepper shakers for a few months, with the idea of using them as food tag holders. By simply twisting thin wire into loops around the tops, they easily held my hand stamped cards.

I wanted colour to be kept to a minimum, so even the sugar cookies were decorated in white. Hard for this colour crazy Mama Bear to do I might add! It took a lot of discipline to keep to the theme on this shower let me tell you! I did however sneak in  a whisk of colour with my lovely vintage baby cards which were pegged across the wooden crate.

I felt it important to use sweets which matched the overall theme of the party too, so lots of jersey caramels, caramel kisses, milk bottles and chico babies were enjoyed.

These Nutella cheesecake mousse pots mark the beginning of a new love affair for me! They were deeelicious, and were the first desserts to be enjoyed by the guests. I love them so much that I am planning on bottling up close to 80 of them in a few months for my son’s wedding dessert table. (spare a thought)

Have you ever seen a more beautiful pregnant mama, who at the time of her shower was close to 38 weeks pregnant?  ( I never looked like that! Ha …more like a whale…hmmm)

These personalised baby shower calico tea bags were give to each guest as a thank you favour. They were customised by  Green Acres Cottage on Etsy. Each bag was filled with a selection of gourmet teas.  Guests were also encouraged to take a cupcake home in sweetly decorated baby boxes.

It was such an honour to put together this very rugged and rustic baby shower for a wonderful mama. The planning of this  took many months and gave me a creative focus which helped me through some challenging weeks.

Always a joy to bake, create, love. xx
