Hello 2022!

Good Morning Friends, and let me wish you a hearty Happy New Year!

2022 Bring it on! I for one am happy to see the back end of 2021 and didn’t give it a backward glance as I toddled off to bed at 8:30 last night.

It was a tough year for many, with jobs lost, business dreams shattered and families separated. My heart goes out to all of you who have suffered and are struggling to find your way forward under duress and heartache.

As I shared last week , I have been reflecting on this year and starting to formulate goals for 2022. A lot of people boo hoo new year resolutions, but I am all for them. Apart from the usual lose weight, exercise more and eat healthier (yada yada, whatever), I am excited to give myself permission to dream a little bit longer, reach a little bit higher and increase the pace of my step towards fulfilling long held visions for my life.

2021 saw the reboot of my blog. I was able to push through a few boundaries, challenge myself to produce weekly content and grow in my skills. Small achievements for some, but for a busy mama juggling a house full of big and little people, these victories are an Everest. Every single cupcake, cake and photo was created with love and passion. I have so much joy making these beautiful (and delicious) treats for people, to help them celebrate important milestones. Working with stunning flowers is absolute bliss and an important part of my aesthetic. Oh what joy to create beauty for people to enjoy in these weary times.

Yesterday, as I was finishing this post, we had eight, maybe ten (I lost count) gorgeous young twenty something year olds hanging at our place for a few days. I was expecting three on Thursday night, but came home from dinner with friends to more than a handful of new faces, with more expected later in the evening. They all brought their own swags, (currently seven swags on my back deck), and a few took to the lounge room floor. I just love it. Coming home from town yesterday afternoon I counted seven 4wd’s lined up outside our house. Classic.

The house is a mess, washing is everywhere, sheets and towels are all over the place, the floor is hideous, but I am just rolling with the punches, grateful that our kid’s friends feel welcome enough to come and crash at our place with no notice. I bought a dozen pizza bases and toppings so they can make up their own dinner later. They are all such wonderful people and it’s an honour to have them here.

So as 2021 rolls into 2022, I am feeling blessed. Life is messy and full, and in the midst of it all I am still carving a way through the demands to create beauty and fill up my creative well. Last year it was only a cake here and cupcakes there, but this year I am biting the bullet and stepping into new opportunities and long held dreams. I am hoping to flourish in new ways and bring the girls with me on the great baking adventure.

Well, at last count there were twelve gorgeous young people in the house. So much energy and life exuding from their very core. I guess we were all like that once. Back when New Year’s Eve was a big deal. Nowadays, if I can just eat, have a cup of tea and go to bed I’m happy and consider that an adequate celebration.

Thanks for hanging with me this year. Thanks for taking the time to read my ramblings, leave comments and enjoy my photos. I really appreciate every one of you and wish you all the best for 2022.

“May the wind under your wings bear you where the sun sails and the moon walks.”

Until next week,

Much love,

Anna xx
